The Pakistan Army on Sunday resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing on Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri and Poonch districts, authorities said.
Defence ministry spokesman, Lt Col Manish Mehta told IANS that the Pakistanis used 2 inch mortars and automatics at Rajouri's Bhimber Ghali sector and Balakot in Poonch.
"The shelling and firing started in Bhimber Ghali at 4 a.m. and continued till 6 a.m., while in Balakot, it began at 6 a.m. and ended at 6.45 a.m.," he said, adding "Our troops responded befittingly".
The official said no casualty or damage was reported on the Indian side.
