India vs England 1st Test: Rain forces early stumps on Day 3; England 25/0, trail by 70 runs
Last Updated : 07 Aug 2021 04:03:40 AM IST

Rain played a spoilsport once again as weather gods forced early stumps on Day 3 of the Nottingham Test. Openers Dominic Sibley and Rory Burns were unbeaten at the crease on 9 and 11 respectively as England got to 25 for no loss before play was abandoned.

Only 5.1 overs could take place in the final session as rain along with bad light forced umpires to call off the day at 10:45 pm IST.

England still trailed by 70 runs at the end of day's play.

Earlier, India produced a terrific fight back with the bat, riding on KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and tailenders knocks to get to 278 before bundling out in the second session. Fifties from Rahul (84) and Jadeja (56) and some lusty blows from the lower order batsmen helped India take crucial 95-run first innings lead.

For England, Ollie Robinson picked up his maiden Test fifer while veteran claimed four wickets to become the third-highest wicket-taker of all time in the longest format.
