Deputy Chairman of the Russian election commission, Nikolai Levichev, is visiting India to observe the Indian election process. He visited state of Uttarakhand and keenly observed the ongoing assembly elections in five states.

Nikolai Levichev is very much influenced and impressed by the Indian election system and the way elections are being conducted in India.

In an exclusive interview with Bijendra Singh, Nikolai Levichev expressed that, in India elections are conducted in the most difficult terrain but the election commission and election machinery is the winner because each new election which are conducted in India is considerably better than the previous one.

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian election commission feels that Indian election is an enormous exercise and huge numbers of peoples are involved in each stage of preparation for polling which is supplemented by the large quantities of observers appointed by the candidates of the different political parties. Indian election also involves participation of large number of people in the election process as the attendance of voters at the polling stations was very hectic. According to Nokolai Levichev, Indian elections are transparent and fair.

The special feature of the Indian election process is the involvement of the disabled people and women into the electoral participation. Further, avoiding the influence of humane factor during the voting count at the polling station.  We have found an important and curious approach to avoid the interference of humane factor into the election process.

"We are open to gather most progressive experience which was gained by our Indian partners during the course of election process. Organization of election is a difficult work and we are open to try to implement the best experiences in our practices," Nikolai Levichev said.
