Priyanka to meet Unnao victim's family; Akhilesh on dharna Last Updated : 07 Dec 2019 01:02:35 PM IST Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav The death of the Unnao rape victim has stirred up the Uttar Pradesh politics with Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra rushing to meet the victim's family in Unnao, and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav sitting on a 'dharna' outside the Vidhan Sabha, here on Saturday.
Akhilesh Yadav, sat on a protest along with senior party leaders to protest against the police inaction in the case, a day after she breathed her last at the Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi.
Priyanka Gandhi, who was on a two-day visit to the state left for Unnao to meet the family members of the victim.
Earlier in the day, Priyanka Gandhi took a swipe at the Yogi Adityanath government in the state. She tweeted: "It is a failure of all of us that we could not give her justice. Socially, we are all guilty, but it also shows the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh."
She questioned as to why atrocities on women were rampant in the state and given the previous incident in Unnao, why no protection was provided to the victim. "Keeping in mind the previous incident of Unnao, why did the government not give immediate protection to the victim? What action was taken against the officer who refused to register her FIR? Everyday there are cases of atrocities against women in Uttar Pradesh, what action is the government taking on this?", she tweeted.IANS Lucknow For Latest Updates Please-
