Union Home Minister Rajanth Singh will soon held a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the expeditious development in the state's eight most backward districts, an official said on Wednesday.

The Minister also said to visit all the districts in the Uttar Pradesh to review the implementation of the district action plan.

Rajnath Singh's assurance came during at a high-level meeting of officers of the Home Ministry, NITI Aayog and delegated senior officers of the respective districts at his North block office.

"The Union Home Minister has assured he will convene a meeting with the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to accelerate development in eight most backward districts of the state. He will also visit all the districts in Uttar Pradesh to review the implementation of the district action plan," the Home Ministry official said.

Bahraich, Balrampur, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar and Sonbhadra are the eight districts in Uttar Pradesh among those 115 backward districts across the country picked up by the NITI Aayog for rapid transformation by 2022.

The 115 backward districts have been allotted to various nodal Central Ministries for real-time monitoring and ranking, the official said, adding the Union Home Ministry has been delegated responsibility in respect of 35 Maoist-affected districts.

For each of the districts, a senior official in the rank of Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary has been nominated as 'Prabhari' Officer, he said.

Prabhari officers, who have undertaken a visit to their respective districts, said in the meeting that the districts fared poorly in health and nutrition and primary education.

Most districts lacked infrastructure and there was an acute shortage of doctors and paramedics in government hospitals and clinics, they said, while proposing localised recruitment to overcome the shortage of teachers in schools.
