IMD issues yellow alert for rain in Delhi, Pragati Maidan tunnel closed for 2nd day Last Updated : 10 Jul 2023 01:22:48 PM IST The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for moderate rain to hit the national capital on Monday, warning that the downpour could inundate low-lying areas and disrupt traffic flow on key roads.
According to the IMD, the minimum temperature on Monday was 25.1 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average.
The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 32 degrees, the weatherman predicted.
The relative humidity at 8.30 a.m. in the morning was recorded at 95 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, the national capital recorded 107 mm of rainfall.Due to waterlogging caused by the heavy rain lashing the national capital, the Pragati Maidan tunnel remain closed for a second day on Monday.
Delhi Police have put up barricades on the entry points of the tunnel to restrict traffic movement.
"Movement of traffic is restricted at Pragati Maidan tunnel due to waterlogging. Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly," the Delhi Traffic Police said on Twitter.
The initial monsoon downpour wreaked havoc in both residential and commercial areas of Delhi on Saturday and Sunday, as the capital recorded 153 mm of rain in 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, the highest in a single day in July since 1982, said the India Meteorological Department.
Over the next few days, the maximum temperature is forecasted to be above 32 degrees and below 36, and minimum temperature is stated to be less than 28 degrees but above 25.IANS New Delhi For Latest Updates Please-
