Coronavirus: Kejriwal holds video conference meeting with AAP MLAs

Delhi Cheif Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday held a meeting with all Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs via video conference to discuss the relief work carried out by them in their respective assemblies amid lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak.

 
Kejriwal, who is also theAnational convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, told MLAs that he is happy that the MLAs areAhelping a lot in feeding the people and providing ration to the people in their respective areas.
 
"A video conference was held today with all the MLAs of AAP. I am happy that all the MLAs are helping a lot in feeding the people and providing ration to the people in their respective areas," the Chief Minister tweeted.
 
The Cabinet Ministers also took part in the meeting, including Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai and Satyendar Jain, and addressed the party MLAs about the steps taken by the government for coronavirus.
 
The country is under a lockdown for three weeks due to coronavirus outbreak till April 14.
 
Since the lockdown was imposed by the Centre, the Delhi government and AAP MLAs have been distributing cooked and dry food packets to poor people facing food crisis due to lockdown.
 
The MLAs are taking requests on phone and also through social media to ensure food distribution is done to poor people and all those in need and were affected by lockdown in their area.
 
The MLAs have also submitted lists of locations where new night shelters and food distribution centres can be established for the needy.
 
Based on the input from the MLAs, the Delhi Government has established new shelters and food distribution centres.
 
The lockdown has affected the lives of many poor people, daily-wagers and labourers.A
 
The Delhi government is not only started free food distribution through night shelters but has also set up Hunger relief camps.
 
So far, the government, with the help of the MLAs, has increased the food distribution capacity to 10 lakh, which was just a few thousand when the lockdown was imposed.
