HC judge plays Kapil Mishra's video in courtroom Last Updated : 26 Feb 2020 01:49:32 PM IST Kapil Mishra High voltage drama ensued in Delhi High Court on Wednesday as it was hearing a petition seeking independent inquiry, compensation for deceased and arresting of prominent political personalities for inciting violence in Delhi's northeast area.
"The situation there is extremely unpleasant," Justice Muralidhar told solicitor General Tushar Mehta.BJP leader Kapil Mishra's video, in which he could be heard passing alleged inflammatory remarks, was also played by the judge in the courtroom. The matter will, however, be taken up at 2:30 p.m.The court, earlier on Wednesday, agreed to hear the plea and also directed a senior Delhi Police official to be present during the hearing.The plea filed by activist Harsh Mander was mentioned before a division bench of the High Court headed by Justices S. Muralidhar as the Chief Justice bench is on leave. The matter has been kept for hearing later on Wednesday.Violence erupted between pro and anti-CAA groups in northeast Delhi on Sunsday. Several areas including Jaffrabad, Maujpur and Gokalpuri are tense.Petitioner and social activist Harsh Mander claimed that as many as 10 people have been killed "in cold blood by the Delhi police and members of the organisation connected to the party in power at Centre."Mander has sought arrest of BJP leaders Kapil Mishra, Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Verma and their prosecution."After provocative speeches were given by the three prominent politicians liked to the assailants, the assailants carried out mutiple brutal attacks on unarmed persons who were protesting against CAA," the plea claimed.He has requested the court to constitute a Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by officers from outside the national capital.The petition sought for a direction to the Central government to deploy Army to control law and order situation in the affected areas.Among other prayers, it also sought an inquiry by a retired judge into "communal attacks".The activist has requested the court to pay "exemplary compensation" to the families of those killed in the violence."For a writ of mandamus, direct the respondents to preserve the evidence and CCTV footage of all cameras in and around the protest site," the plea said.IANS New Delhi For Latest Updates Please-
