Kathak performance captures the story of Delhi Last Updated : 18 Apr 2017 06:23:44 PM IST File Photo: Classical dancer Shivani Varma
In a remarkable Kathak performance, the story of Delhi -- the rise and fall of empires; the glory and degeneration of cultures and the suppression and liberation of millions -- was showcased through the eyes of Yamuna as a celestial being.
Titled "Yeh Seher Nahin Mehfil Hai," the stunning Kathak performance was enacted by classical dancer Shivani Varma at the C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Center in the Capital here.
"The concept and theme was based on the river Yamuna, which is an integral part of this city. We wanted to create an impact through this recital wherein the condition and environment of Delhi was shown through the perspective of Yamuna. A lot of hard work was put in by the whole team and we worked like an ensemble to make this happen," Varma informed media.
The show, held on late Sunday evening, was presented and organised by Beenu Rajpoot and Precious Planet Charitable Trust. The production was based on text written by Pavan K. Varma, where the narration was done by Syeda Hameed.IANS For Latest Updates Please-
