The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Tuesday accused "outsiders" of vandalism and anti-national propaganda on the Delhi University (DU) campus and questioned the silence of the university's Vice Chancellor over the issue.

"It was outsiders who disturbed the atmosphere of Delhi University campus," DU Student Union General Secretary Ankit Sangwan of the ABVP said at a press conference here.

Demanding strict action against the "anti-national programme", the ABVP leader asked why was the Delhi University Vice Chancellor silent over the whole issue.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's students wing, ABVP, said that some miscreants were trying to create nuisance on the university campus through violence and by raising anti-national slogans.

Sangwan said that outsiders were responsible for the disturbances on the campus and the student union members protested against it in a peaceful way.

The outfit denied that its leaders indulged in violence.

Sangwan and other leaders of ABVP declared that they would not tolerate anti-national slogans on the university's campus and would continue to protest and fight against those elements.

He said that if anyone wanted to demand a freedom, it should be demand for freedom from terrorism and naxalism.

Sangwan said that the DUSU leaders were protesting against Umar Khalid, who was invited to the college as a speaker, despite him facing the charge of sedition.

The ABVP leader said that Monday's "Tiranga March" was called for peace.

A clash took place between the members of the ABVP and the All India Students Association (AISA), a Left-leaning student organisation at Ramjas College, on February 22 that left the university campus disturbed.
