Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav appeared before a special CBI court in Ranchi on Thursday in connection with fodder scam case.

The special case will continue hearing for the next three days and the court has asked Lalu to appear before on all three days.

This is for the fourth time that Yadav has appeared before the special court in the last three weeks.

There is a criminal conspiracy charge against Lalu Prasad in a fodder scam case for fraudulent withdrawal from Jharkhand's Dumka and  Deoghar treasury.

Thursday's appearance is related to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 95 lakh and 8 thousand from Dumka treasury and Friday's appearance would be related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3 crore 13 lakh from Jharkhand’s Deoghar treasury.

In May, Supreme Court had set aside a Ranchi High Court ruling and ordered that Lalu be tried in all the remaining five fodder scam cases.

The RJD chief has already been convicted in one of the fodder scam cases and his appeal against which is pending in the Apex Court.

Setting aside the High Court order which said that since Lalu Prasad has already been convicted in one fodder scam case there was no need to try him in the other cases, a bench of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Amitava Roy held that the trial would take place in all the cases on all the charges.

The bench also directed that the trials be completed in nine months.

The apex court wondered how could the same judge on the same facts of the case take one view in respect of one accused and a contrary view in case of Lalu Prasad.
