The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) said it would file a police complaint on Monday against unidentified policemen for pulling off the turban of a Sikh security guard of a BJP leader during a protest march in West Bengal last week and his arrest.

DSGMC President Manjinder Singh Sirsa told IANS that he along with two other DSGMC members will visit the Howrah police station and lodge a formal complaint against the policemen late in the day.

The three-member DSGMC delegation, which visited Kolkata on Sunday in the wake of 'manhandling' and arrest of Sikh security guard Balwinder Singh, also plans to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

She would be requested to take action against the guilty policemen for "hurting the Sikhs' religious sentiments by pulling off the turban" of Balwinder Singh.

"In our complaint, we will demand identification of the policemen who shoved Balwinder Singh and pulled his turban. We want action against those cops. We are trying to meet the state government authorities to urge them to take necessary action against the erring cops and release Balwinder Singh," Sirsa said.

Sirsa-led delegation had met West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday after reaching Kolkata and sought the immediate release of Balwinder Singh and action against the erring policemen.

A video clip showing Balwinder Singh was shoved and his turban pulled off by the police in Kolkata during a protest march by the Bharatiya Janata Party's youth wing to the state Secretariat Nabanna on October 8 went viral on the social media.

BJP leaders and many others flayed police for hurting the religious sentiments of Balwinder Singh, a personal security guard of BJP leader Priyanshu Pandey.

According to reports, a 9mm pistol was seized from Balwinder Singh after he showed firearm licence valid till January next year.
