India To Exihibit 4th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest Last Updated : 18 Feb 2019 04:59:36 PM IST The Russian International News Agency ‘Sputnik News’ is hosting a photo exhibition of the selected entries for the year 2018 of the 4th Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest at AIFACS Gallery in New Delhi from 22 - 28th February 2019.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on 22nd February 2019 at 5.30 pm in the presence of eminent personalities from the media, art, diplomats etc. The event is supported by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India. This is the first time that the entries of Stenin Photo contest will be exhibited in India.
Stenin Photo Contest held under the aegis of the Russian Commission for UNESCO exhibited photographs of the finalists in the United Nations office, New York in November 2018. Around 6000 entries by young photojournalists from 77 countries were received for the contest in last year.
Selected entries of the photo contest have been exhibited across the world in all major cities including in Athens, Tel-Aviv, Madrid, Istanbul, Shanghai, Warsaw, Mexico, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Beirut and Budapest.
Two young Indian Photographers Amit Moulick from Kolkata who participated in the photo contest were awarded prizes in different categories.
The objective of the annually held Stenin Photo Contest is to promote young photographers and draw public attention to the challenges of modern photojournalism.
The competition is held as a tribute to Andrei Stenin, an experienced military Russian photojournalist who worked in such hotspots as Egypt, Syria, Libya, the Gaza Strip and other locations. He won "Silver Camera" prize in 2010 and 2013. He was killed in August 2014 in the line of duty.Bijendra Singh For Latest Updates Please-
