AIADMK dumps T. T. V. Dinakaran appointment as Deputy General Secretary Last Updated : 10 Aug 2017 03:42:28 PM IST file photo: V.K. Sasikala
The AIADMK faction led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Thursday declared as null and void the appointment as party Deputy General Secretary of T.T.V. Dinakaran, nephew of the now jailed General Secretary V.K. Sasikala.
A resolution to this effect was moved at a meeting chaired by Palaniswami at the AIADMK headquarters here.
"Dinakaran's appointment as Deputy General Secretary is illegal as per the party rules. He cannot hold any party post since he was not a party member for a continuous five years," said the resolution.
The AIADMK also said that Dinakaran was creating confusion by appointing several party office bearers. "Therefore, Dinakaran's announcements also invalid."
The rival AIADMK group led by former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has been insisting on the ouster of both Sasikala, who has been jailed for corruption, and Dinakaran if the two AIADMK factions were to merge.
