An army major and a jawan has been killd in a gunbattle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Thursday.

Another army personnel is injured in the encounter that is still going on.

In another encounter, two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit were killed on Thursday by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said.
  

The militants were killed in an operation by the security forces in Gopalpora village in the district. Two weapons have also been recovered from them.

"One of the slain militants was involved in the murder of five policemen and two bank guards in Pombai village in Kulgam district on May 1," a police officer told reporters.
