An Indian Army Major of Rashtriya Rifles was shot dead by a jawan in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir late Monday.
Major Shekhar Thapa of 8 Rashtriya Rifles was killed in a fratricidal fire by Naik Kathiresan G. Major Thapa.
According to the inicial reports, the army officer had ticked off the jawan over use of cellphone on duty.
An altercation broke out when the Major scolded the jawan for using cellphone on duty, he also broke cellphone's screen. The angry soldier fired five shots at the Major and he died on the spot.
Police has lodged an FIR and started a probe into the incident.
