Army jawan runs away with AK-47 in Pulwama Last Updated : 06 Jul 2017 10:42:27 AM IST File photo: Zahoor Ahmed Thakur
An Indian Army jawan has reportedly ran away with AK-47 and 3 magazine on Wednesday night.
Sepoy Zahoor Ahmed Thakur of 173 Territorial Army regiment of Indian army, absconded on Wednesday night at 11:30 pm with one AK 47 rifle and three magazines.
Zahoor is a residence of Sirnoo, Pulwama and went missing from Gantmulla area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district, where he was posted.
Reports suggest that the jawan has most probably joined the Terrorist's rank and file.
He has good knowledge of the security system followed by units deployed in the valley and elsewhere.Manhunt has been launched to nab him.
It will not be surprising that this soldier was coerced by the terrorists or the circumstances to abandon post with a service rifle.
This is not the first time that an armyman has deserted his post. Several policemen have deserted their posts and joined militant ranks in past couple of years in Kashmir.Saharasamay desk For Latest Updates Please-
