Amid boycott by the Congress, the Trinamool and other opposition parties, Modi government is all set to launch the major indirect tax reform measure - Goods and Services Tax (GST) - in Parliament's Central Hall on Friday night.
Where Janata Dal-United (JD-U) has decided to attend the rollout of GST in Parliament, Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Trinamool Congress are boycotting the event.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley even urged them to reconsider their decision.
Both President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the event.
Vice President Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, all ministers in Modi cabinet, Chief Ministers of states and other senior officers will attend the launch of the new taxation system.
Apart from them, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and business tycoon Ratan Tata will too attend the launch of GST that is set to dramatically re-shape the over USD 2 trillion economy.Two films on GST would also be showcased at the launch event that will start at around 11pm and extent into the midnight.
