Mercury soars in early April; IMD issues heat wave alert

India is reeling under heat waves with maximum temperature in most parts of the country recorded above 40 degree Celsius.

Heat wave alert has been issued by India Meteorological Department over Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana for next 3-4 days.

Where IMD has predicted thunderstorm warning over Bihar, West Bengal Assam and Meghalaya, cyclonic storm 'Maarutha' has been forecast at few places in Odisha.

It was a hot Tuesday morning in the national capital with the minimum temperature recorded at 24.9 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.   

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 41 degrees Celsius.

Sriganganagar in Rajasthan is the hottest place with maximum temperature of 46 degree Celsius.

The Max temperature recorded in Barmer is 44.4 degree celsius, 46 degrees in Churu, 45 degrees in Bikaner and 43.2 degrees in Jaipur.

The Met Department recorded 43 degree celsius as the maximum temperature in Hyderabad, the joint capital of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh.

Wardha and Akola are the hottest in Maharashtra with maximum temperature of 45 degree and 44.6 degree Celsius.
