Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Monday said that the party that came on second has no right to form government, and slammed the BJP for "stealing elections" in Goa and Manipur.
"A party that comes second has no right to form the Government. BJP stealing elections in Goa and Manipur," said Chidambaram on his official Twitter account.
Goa Governor Mridula Sinha on Sunday appointed Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar as the new Chief Minister of Goa. He has been asked to prove majority on the floor of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
Parrikar had submitted support of 21 MLAs before the Governor in the 40-member house.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has 13 MLAs, is supported by three legislators each of the Goa Forward Party and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and two Independent legislators.
In Manipur, the state's Governor Najma Hepetullah is likely to invite the BJP leaders on Monday to form the government.
The BJP legislators and their supporters numbering 32 in the 60 member house called on the governor on Sunday to formally stake claim.
BJP secured 21 seats, Naga People's Front, the National People's Front have 4 MLAs each and AITC, LJP and a Independent having one seat each extended support to the BJP.IANS For Latest Updates Please-
