Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday that results of the assembly elections announced during the day proved wrong those who had opposed demonetisation.
The Bharatiya Janata Party recorded impressive wins in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and was not far behind the Congress in the seat tally in Goa and Manipur.
"Those who opposed demonetisation have been given a reply by the voters. Those who could not bear the pain (of demonetisation) have been shown their place," Fadnavis told the media here.
Terming the Uttar Pradesh results as the beginning of a "new era," Fadnavis said he was confident that with this electoral victory, "we will march ahead even faster on the path of development".
"The people of our nation stand strongly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 'garib kalyan' agenda. They have shown faith in the corruption-free and transparent agenda led by the Prime Minister and the strategy of (BJP President Amit Shah," Fadnavis said.
The Chief Minister said the masses, particularly the youth, have full faith in Modi and the result in the biggest state UP proved this and was an indicator of the public mood.IANS For Latest Updates Please-
