Unfortunate people only link legislators with jobs, roads: Parrikar Last Updated : 03 Jan 2017 05:18:34 AM IST Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar (file photo)
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Monday said it is unfortunate that people today only associate legislators with doling out jobs and building roads and not as lawmakers.
He also lamented lack of proper discussions while passing laws.
"There needs to be improvement (in the quality of legislative discussions), because people think that the job of a legislator is to give jobs, make roads, water... these are their jobs, but (people) think these are the only jobs they have. Legislators have to make law and to frame proper laws," Parrikar told a government function here."Unfortunately, there is not much detailed thought applied while making of laws... I have seen many a times that there are no proper discussions on legislation. There has to be an improvement, it's not that I am blaming any one person," the former Goa Chief Minister also said.
